Please note:
The entry requirements for the Maldives can change constantly. The status of this text is as of October 2024. All information is provided without guarantee. For legally binding information, please contact the embassy directly.
The entry to the Maldives is currently possible for tourists. Upon entry, German citizens receive a tourist visa for 30 days in the form of a stamp in their passport. The tourist visa is free. (Please check the entry requirements for your country, if you are not German)
The prerequisite for entry is that the passport is valid for at least six months. You must also have a booking confirmation for accommodation and an onward travel ticket.
An extension of the tourist visa to 90 days is possible. To do this, an application must be submitted to the Maldives. However, the prerequisite is a recommendation from the relevant hotel island. Approval is provided by the Department of Immigration and Emigration in Male.
Special entry requirements because of Covid:
A negative PCR test is no longer necessary to travel to the Maldives and proof of vaccination does not have to be provided. However, all travelers must complete an electronic entry declaration before entering the Maldives.
The so-called Traveller Declaration can be found on the Immigration website (IMUGA). It must be submitted within 96 hours before arrival in the Maldives. The time window should be strictly observed, otherwise the QR code on the entry declaration will no longer be valid upon arrival.
There is nothing to consider when leaving the Maldives, because as of August 15, 2024, the exit form no longer needs to be filled out.
